About Nourkrin® with Marilex®

What makes Nourkrin® unique?

Nourkrin® is the only Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy on the market, and it is scientifically proven being a drug-free, completely safe, and side effect free method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and thereby normalising the Hair Growth Cycle and supporting normal healthy hair growth.

Why is Nourkrin® a 6 month programme for restoring normal, healthy hair growth?

This is simply due to the prolonged nature of the Hair Growth Cycle itself. Approximately 85-90% of the hair is actively growing at any given time in the Anagen (growth) phase. Once the hair reaches its full growth potential, it sits inactive in the follicle until released. The follicle then produces a new hair, thereby beginning a new growth phase and completing the cycle.

The average duration of the Telogen (resting) phase is 3-4 months. To ensure the optimal growth conditions Nourkrin® with Marilex® is scientifically developed as a 6 month programme.

About Proteoglycans

What is Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy?

Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ concentration of hair growth regulating proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy is today a clinically established pathology and is a condition where a wasting away of selective proteoglycans from the dermal papilla, the inner and outer root sheaths occurs, coupled with an ever-decreasing ability by the body to reproduce these in a normal healthy manner.

The bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin® with the unique, proprietary Marilex®, is a scientifically developed Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy formulated to support normal, healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy, which is an underlying cause of almost all cases of hair growth disruption, no matter the cause or type.

There are many causes of hair loss, e.g., stress, genetics, hormones, childbirth, medicine, health, diabetes, diet, smoking and hairstyling. No matter the cause, the normal healthy Hair Growth Cycle is always negatively affected.

The Hair Growth Cycle is the all-important mechanism regulating hair growth on the scalp. In order to restore hair and treat hair loss, it is, therefore, necessary to normalise and support the Hair Growth Cycle.

One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer the specific bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

There is a well-founded scientific and clinical basis for using Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy as a primary therapy for subjects suffering from hair loss or hair growth disorders, no matter the cause or type. It has been documented that proteoglycan levels decline within the hair follicle in age-related or genetic hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), post-pregnancy (Postpartum Effluvium) and whilst experiencing stress related-hair loss (Telogen Effluvium).

9 out of 10 users saw a significant improvement after taking Nourkrin® – YES, IT WORKS!

What is Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy?

During the past 30 years, extensive research has been carried out, focusing on the hair follicle and its unique life, function and cycling. It has been clinically documented that proteoglycans, a specific type of activation protein, play a vital role in healthy hair growth.

The hair follicle relies on a finely-tuned dialogue between different compartments in the skin on the scalp and around the hair follicle, regulated by a delicate balance between various important growth influencers. Proteoglycans’ roles in hair growth control should always be considered when addressing hair growth disorders, no matter their cause or type as proteoglycans can effectively modulate growth factors.

The Hair Growth Cycle consists of three phases: the Anagen (growth) phase, the Catagen (transition) phase and the Telogen (resting) phase. The hair follicle returns to a new Anagen phase after the hair has been shed in the Telogen phase, thereby completing the cycle.

Several factors can influence the Hair Growth Cycle and disrupt normal hair growth, resulting in shedding, with weak or no re-growth. By utilising a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, which is rich in specific proteoglycans, the hair follicles can be induced back into the Anagen phase to begin a new Hair Growth Cycle.

What is Marilex®?

Marilex® setsNourkrin® apart from any other products claiming to contain similar ingredients, as Marilex® is a proprietary ingredient protected by exclusive intellectual property rights for more than 30 years.

Marilex® and Marilex®-M are the main active components of Nourkrin® Woman and Nourkrin® Man respectively.

Marilex® is rich in specific follicular bioactive proteoglycans obtained from a proprietary enzymatic fractionation of a specific fish extract and contains high proportions of specific papillary proteoglycans which are critical to normal healthy female hair follicle growth and cycling during Telogen Effluvium (hair shedding after a particular trigger e.g. after giving birth, sudden weight loss, stress, covid infection etc.) and Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss).

Marilex®-M also contains high proportions of these specific papillary proteoglycans plus additional extra proportions of decorin and versican that are essential in replenishing the critical papillary proteoglycans that address follicle shrinkage during Male Pattern Hair Loss (genetic hair loss).

Both complexes restore the key proteoglycans in hair follicles that are experiencing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy (PFA), which is clinically documented to be a major underlying cause of hair loss in females and males alike, thereby inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase and ultimately leading to a normalisation of the healthy Hair Growth Cycle.

Marilex® (fractionated fish extract with specific lectican proteoglycans) is made with the highest quality, natural raw materials using an exclusive, protected, enzymatic extraction technology and is accepted by health authorities on all continents of the globe including the FDA, Anvisa, Cofepris and European Food Safety Authority etc.

Each Nourkrin® tablet contains the precise amount of Marilex® that has been used in the clinical studies documenting the efficacy. The other ingredients further influence the Hair Growth Cycle, which is why the bioactive proteoglycan formula of Nourkrin® is not just a simple multivitamin, but an effective, scientifically tested and tried Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy for hair growth disruptions in women and men experiencing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

About safety and Side Effects

Will users experience growth of body or facial hair using Nourkrin®?

The active ingredient in Nourkrin®, Marilex®, contains specific proteoglycans that are only involved in the hair follicle cycling of scalp hair, meaning, it does not, in any way, affect the growth of hair on any other part of the body.

The human scalp has a ‘finite’ number of hair follicles that, after puberty, are known as ‘terminal’ hairs. Terminal hairs also exist on the face, for example, eyelashes and eyebrows, and on the body. The terminal hairs are usually darker and thicker than the fine transparent hairs that are found all over the body, which are known as ‘vellus’ hairs. When terminal scalp hair follicles growth is disrupted, for whatever reason, whether due to hormones, stress, genetics or another cause, they become dormant and cannot grow hair, however, the follicles are still intact but ‘sleeping’.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula used as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy and is specifically designed to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and promote normal, healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy, which is an underlying cause of almost all cases of Hair Growth Disruption, no matter the cause or type of the hair growth disruption.

Nourkrin® stimulates the dormant scalp follicles pushing them back into the Anagen (growth) phase, thereby normalising the Hair Growth Cycle to promote normal, healthy hair growth.

Will taking more than the recommended dosage increase the speed or quality of my hair growth?

No, each Nourkrin® tablet contains the precise strength of active ingredients that have been used in the clinical studies documenting the positive effect on hair loss and hair growth.

It has been demonstrated in clinical studies that intake of more than the recommended daily dosage, as described on the specific product packaging, provides no significant added benefit.

The Hair Growth Cycle is the all-important mechanism regulating hair growth on the scalp. In order to restore hair and treat hair loss, it is necessary to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle.

The Hair Growth Cycle consists of three phases: the Anagen (growth) phase, the Catagen (transition) phase and the Telogen (resting) phase. The hair follicle returns to a new Anagen phase after the hair has been shed in the Telogen phase, thereby completing the cycle.

Normally, each individual hair strand follows its own hair cycling schedule, completely independent of other hairs on the scalp. The speed at which hair grows is determined by genetics but there are other factors that can affect the growth rate and the Hair Growth Cycle.

Several factors can influence the Hair Growth Cycle and disrupt normal hair growth, resulting in shedding, weak or no re-growth. By utilising a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, which is rich in specific proteoglycans, the hair follicles can be induced back into the Anagen phase to begin a new Hair Growth Cycle. On average, healthy hair grows at a rate of around ¼ to ½ an inch a month.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula used as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy and is specifically designed to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and promote normal, healthy hair growth.

How to increase hair growth

How long does it take before I start to notice a difference in my hair?

Most Nourkrin® users start to see a difference after 2-3 months of proper use on the recommended daily intake.

85-90% of the hair is actively growing at any given time in the Anagen (growth) phase. Once the hair reaches its full growth potential, it sits inactive in the follicle until released. The follicle then produces a new hair, thereby beginning a new growth phase and completing the cycle. Average duration of the Telogen (resting) phase is 3-4 months. To ensure the optimal growth conditions Nourkrin® is scientific developed as a 6 month programme.

What is hair restoration?

There are many types of hair loss and some are more easily addressed than others. What all types of hair loss have in common is that they are usually caused by a disturbance to the Hair Growth Cycle (Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy).

Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy is a documented pathology and is a condition where a wasting away of selective proteoglycans from the dermal papilla, the inner and outer root sheaths, occurs, coupled with an ever-decreasing ability by the body to reproduce these.

It has been shown that proteoglycan levels decline within the hair follicle in age-related or genetic hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), post-pregnancy (Postpartum Effluvium) and whilst experiencing stress (Telogen Effluvium).

Essentially, this means that the three phases of the Hair Growth Cycle are disrupted and have changed from the normal duration. The Anagen (growth) phase is shortened and the hairs, therefore, enter the Catagen (transition) phase prematurely and the last phase, the Telogen (resting) phase, is prolonged. As a result, the hairs are shed sooner than normal and often fewer hairs are induced back into the growth phase, which results in less or weaker regrowth.

Hair loss and thinning should be addressed as soon as possible to ensure the best possible treatment outcome – short as well as long term. The goal of any treatment approach to hair loss should be to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle, to lengthen the growth phase and push back the resting phase to its normal, healthy levels. The hair’s restoration comes into play when the Hair Growth Cycle is normalised, meaning, the hairs caught in the resting phase, which have been dormant, are induced back into the growth phase.

The Hair Growth Cycle is the all-important mechanism regulating hair growth on the scalp. In order to restore hair and treat hair loss, it is necessary to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle. One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

The bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin®, with the unique, proprietary Marilex®, is a scientifically developed Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy formulated to support normal healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy, which is an underlying cause of almost all cases of hair growth disruption, no matter the cause or type.

Certain types of hair loss are harder to address than others, such as autoimmune and genetic hair loss, in which cases it is essential to be proactive to avoid a worsening of the hair loss condition. Essentially, hair restoration becomes increasingly harder as more and more hair follicles stop producing hair altogether, which is why the right approach is crucial and it should be started as soon as possible.

Due to the natural duration of the Hair Growth Cycle, it can take up to six months to see an improvement in hair growth.

Nourkrin® have helped hundreds of thousands of women and men to restore their normal, healthy Hair Growth Cycle and that is why Nourkrin® is today recognised by scientists, doctors, dermatologists and trichologists worldwide.

How can I make my hair grow faster?

There are things that you can do to give your hair the best prerequisites for growth. However, always keep in mind that normal healthy hair usually only grows about 0.6 cm (a quarter of an inch) to 1.25 cm (half an inch) a month – so first of all, it is important to be patient and realistic in your hair growth expectations.

Healthy hair is the most important prerequisite for growing long hair, meaning, taking care of the hair that you already have from the inside and the outside should be your first priority and focus.

As for the outside, styling, heat styling and tight hairstyles are generally the big sins. Heat styling will dry out your hair and, in the worst-case scenarios, burn your hair, leading to more fragile hair and more breakage, which makes it harder to grow long hair. Tight hairstyles and poor brushing techniques can cause what is known as Traction Alopecia, or cosmetic hair loss, which is a kind of hair loss caused by breakage due to strain. Both heat styling and tight hairstyles can cause excessive hair loss, if the hair is already fragile or dry from, for example, bleaching or colouring.

One thing is taking care of your hair from the outside, but it is just as important to take care of your hair from the inside. A primary therapy and first approach to support your hair growth, hair quality and help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle to maintain healthy hair growth is vital for your success.

The Hair Growth Cycle is the all-important mechanism regulating normal, healthy hair growth. Normally, each individual hair strand follows its own hair cycling schedule, completely independent of other hairs on the scalp. The speed at which hair grows is determined by genetics but there are other factors that can affect the growth rate and the overall function of the Hair Growth Cycle.

The bioactive proteoglycan components contained in Nourkrin®, with the unique Marilex®, are a scientifically formulated Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy that works with the normal Hair Growth Cycle to help normalise and maintain the overall life and function of healthy hair follicles.

During a normal, healthy Hair Growth Cycle, specialised components, called proteoglycans, play an important role in regulating the hair follicle’s normal, healthy cycling mechanism and function. Marilex® contains high proportions of the specific papillary proteoglycans, which are critical to healthy hair follicle growth and normal hair follicle cycling.

Nourkrin® is scientifically documented to help maintain a normal Hair Growth Cycle, which helps you to support normal healthy hair growth.

To ensure the optimal function of the Hair Growth Cycle>, users are advised to follow a course of Nourkrin® over a minimum period of 4 to 6 months to ensure maximum initial support for their hair.

What are hair growth vitamins? And are hair growth vitamins effective against hair loss and hair growth disruptions?

Hair loss is more common than most people realise. A hair growth disruption can happen to anyone and whether or not a specific cause or reason for the hair loss is determined or diagnosed, many are left searching for a treatment solution that can improve their current hair growth and state of their hair growth. A bioactive proteoglycan formula is unlike a normal commercial vitamin supplement, it is in fact an effective approach to solving a hair growth problem.

Many have, at some point in time, heard about hair growth vitamins and while a vitamin deficiency can indeed disrupt the normal Hair Growth Cycle and cause hair loss, the facts are that it is rare with less than 2% of hair loss being caused as a result of a vitamin deficiency. Vitamins for hair growth, or so-called hair loss vitamins, are, therefore, often only variations of simple, generic vitamin blends and, as such, not designed to address the underlying hair growth issue directly and effectively. As for biotin supplements, there are only very weak and somewhat questionable  links to suggest that biotin supplements might improve thin or brittle hair and nails– in fact published research and meta studies actually show that biotin supplements have no effect whatsoever.

Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ concentration of specific proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Nourkrin® contains the unique and patented Marilex®, rich in bioactive proteoglycans, obtained from a proprietary enzymatic fractionation of a specific fish extract and contains high proportions of specific papillary proteoglycans, which are critical to female hair follicle growth and cycling during Telogen Effluvium (hair shedding) and Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss).

Marilex® restores the key proteoglycans in and around the hair follicles that are experiencing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy, a major underlying cause of hair loss in females and males alike, thereby inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase leading to a normalisation of the Hair Growth Cycle and the overall hair quality and density.

Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, i.e., >Nourkrin® with Marilex®, is a clinically documented, first-line therapy proven to be clinically effective in 9 out of 10 women suffering from >Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Nourkrin®, in addition to Marilex®, also contains a select mix of vitamins, as well as silica, to address any vitamin deficiency that, in very rare cases, might be an underlying cause of hair loss. Nourkrin® is, however, not a simple multivitamin, but a unique product that has been featured in numerous, published clinical peer-reviewed papers and is used globally as a primary therapy to successfully address hair growth disorders, stop hair loss and improve hair growth, as well as the quality and appearance of the hair.

What is the Hair Growth Cycle?

60% of women and 80% of men will experience hair loss at some stage in their lives. Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ concentration of specific proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy is a documented pathology and is a condition where a wasting away of selective proteoglycans from the dermal papilla, the inner and outer root sheath, occurs, coupled with an ever-decreasing ability by the body to reproduce these.

During the normal Hair Growth Cycle, 85-90% of the hair is actively growing, while 10-15% of the hair sits inactive in the follicle, after it has reached full growth potential and before it is shed after 3-4 months. When experiencing hair loss, the normal Hair Growth Cycle has been disrupted. A disruption of the Hair Growth Cycle can have many different causes, including stress, hormones, health and genetics, just to mention a few.

A disrupted Hair Growth Cycle means that the Anagen (growth) phase is reduced and the Telogen (resting) phase of the hair becomes prolonged. A disruption essentially results in increased shedding and weaker regrowth – and, in some cases, fewer hair follicles are induced back into the growth phase, resulting in no regrowth as the hair follicles are dormant.

To restore normal, healthy hair growth it is necessary to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle. The growth phase will be increased, pushing back the resting phase to the normal duration and inducing dormant hairs back into the growth phase, thus creating regrowth. Hair restoration is only possible when the disrupted Hair Growth Cycle is addressed and restored. For some types of hair loss, such as Postpartum Effluvium, which is excessive shedding after giving birth, the Hair Growth Cycle will usually adjust itself as the hormonal irregularities are normalised, however, it can take years for the Hair Growth Cycle to normalise on its own.

One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

There is a well-founded scientific basis for recommending Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy as a primary therapy for subjects suffering hair loss or hair growth disorders. It has been shown that proteoglycan levels decline within the hair follicle in age-related or genetic hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), post-pregnancy (Postpartum Effluvium) and whilst experiencing stress (Telogen Effluvium).

About hair loss and hair growth disruptions in general

How can I stop or prevent hair loss?

60% of women will experience some form of hair growth disruption at some stage of their lives and hair loss, in its varying forms, can occur due to a number of different reasons, some of which are more easily addressed than others. Yet no matter what type and cause of hair loss occurs, the Hair Growth Cycle is always negatively affected.

Lifestyle-related issues can cause hair loss, such as smoking, certain medications and stress. Smoking can cause a number of health problems, including poor circulation, which can affect hair growth. In recent years, it has become more apparent that certain kinds of medication can cause hair loss, however, since the doctor might not always inform their patients about any possible hair loss as a side effect of medication, it is important to do your own research and consult your doctor, if you think your medication might be causing hair loss. Finally, stress is one of the major culprits of hair loss. Stress over a long period of time or acute stress, as the result of, for example, a traumatic event, can disrupt the Hair Growth Cycle and cause excessive shedding and gradually accelerating hair loss.

Moreover, it is important to note that hair loss, as a result of starting a new diet, losing weight, starting a new course of medication or stress, will usually only occur 4-16 weeks after the change that disrupted the Hair Growth Cycle’s normal duration. The most effective way to address and stop hair fall and/or hair loss is to counteract the disruption and normalise the normal, healthy Hair Growth Cycle.

Other factors that are known to cause hair loss are hormonal imbalances, for example, during menopause or after giving birth, as a result of diabetes and general health, which is why it is always important to talk to your GP about any possible underlying health issues that might contribute to the hair loss. Hair loss has many causes, but not all hair loss is permanent. Some examples of a disrupted Hair Growth Cycle might have been prevented with the right approach, but even after the onset, significant hair loss can be stopped or halted in a matter of a few months.

Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ concentration of specific proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy. The bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin®, with the unique, proprietary Marilex®, is a scientifically developed Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy formulated to support normal, healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Nourkrin®, with Marilex®, has for 30 years helped hundreds of thousands of women and men to restore their Hair Growth Cycle and are recognised by scientists, doctors, dermatologists and trichologists worldwide.

What causes hair loss?

During the past 30 years, extensive research has been carried out, focusing on the hair follicle and its unique function and cycling. It has become apparent that proteoglycans, a specific type of protein, play a vital role in hair growth.

The hair follicle relies on a fine-tuned dialogue between different compartments and a delicate balance between various influences. Proteoglycans’ role in hair growth control must be considered when addressing hair growth disorders, no matter their cause or type since proteoglycans can modulate growth factors.

Different types of hair loss also indicate different causes of hair loss. There are many hair loss causes, some more obvious than others, and some are more easily addressed than others. No matter the hair loss cause or what type of female hair loss occurs, the Hair Growth Cycle is always negatively affected.

The Hair Growth Cycle can be disrupted by many factors, e.g., hair transplant, surgery, medication, stress, poor nutrition, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cholesterol, chemicals, hormones, genetics, childbirth, hairstyling and others.

By utilising a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, which is rich in specific proteoglycans, the hair follicles can be induced back into the Anagen phase to begin a new Hair Growth Cycle.

Nourkrin®, is a bioactive proteoglycan formulation, with the unique Marilex®, which is scientifically formulated to help maintain a normal Hair Growth Cycle, which supports normal healthy hair growth.

Will Nourkrin® work if I have already gone bald?

Unfortunately, once the hair follicle is dead, it is no longer able to produce hair. Therefore, it is recommended to begin using Nourkrin® at the first signs of hair thinning or hair loss.

What are the effective treatments available for hair loss?

Hair loss treatments can vary depending on the hair loss type, but what most hair loss types have in common is that they usually stem from a disruption of the normal healthy Hair Growth Cycle. For hair loss brought on by, for example, stress or diet, it is advisable to address the cause, while simultaneously treating the underlying hair loss condition by normalising the Hair Growth Cycle.

Basically, the Hair Growth Cycle has 3 phases, the Anagen (growth) phase, the Catagen (transition) phase and the Telogen (resting) phase. Normally, during the growth phase around 85-90% of the hair is actively growing, while 1% is in the transition phase and approximately 10-15% of the hair is in the resting phase, where the hairs are eventually shed before the cycle is repeated.

During a hair growth disruption, which can manifest as hair loss, thinning or excessive shedding, the Hair Growth Cycle is always negatively affected. A disrupted Hair Growth Cycle means that the growth phase is shortened, which causes the hairs to stop growing prematurely. Consequently, the entire Hair Growth Cycle becomes affected and the hairs enter the transition phase earlier than normal. Likewise, the resting phase becomes prolonged, which results in excessive shedding and fewer hairs re-entering the growth phase, resulting in weak regrowth.

A hair growth disruption can be caused by a number of different factors, some of which are hard, if not directly impossible, to control. Among the more common causes are acute and chronic stress, hormonal changes, for example, during pregnancy or menopause, general health issues, including diabetes and a number of autoimmune disorders, diet, smoking, some medications and genetic factors.

Nourkrin® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula, containing the unique, proprietary Marilex®, and is a scientifically developed Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, formulated to support normal, healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy, which is an underlying cause of almost all cases of hair growth disruption, no matter the cause or type.

Treatments for hair loss or hair loss solutions should, as a first step, focus on restoring and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle and addressing the disruption that is causing the hair loss or thinning in the first place. Nourkrin®, with Marilex®, is based on 30 years of knowledge and research in hair loss and proteoglycans that work together with the normal Hair Growth Cycle for normal, healthy hair growth and to support the overall life and function of hair follicles. Nourkrin®, with Marilex®, is a scientifically formulated, natural, safe and drug-free product that is globally used as a primary Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy to address hair growth disorders in women and men. Due to the natural duration of the Hair Growth Cycle, it is recommended that Nourkrin® should be taken for a minimum of 4, preferably 6 months for the best initial hair growth result.

An effective hair loss treatment can be of vital importance for a person suffering from hair loss, as hair loss can have a severe and significant psychological impact. Furthermore, the increased stress of experiencing hair loss can actually worsen the condition. It is, therefore, important to start a primary Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy as soon as possible to address the initial hair loss and to seek medical advice to attempt to pinpoint the cause of the hair loss and to account for any possible underlying health conditions that might cause hair loss.

Is there a cure for baldness?

There is no known cure for baldness as such, however, maintaining healthy hair growth is the best approach to preventing baldness before the actual onset and full manifestation of the problem.

Hair loss differs depending on the cause of the hair loss or hair growth disruption. Many factors can cause hair loss or hair growth disruptions and some of them are simply out of our general control. Factors that can cause hair loss include stress, hormones, genetics and overall health along with simple lifestyle choices, such as diet, smoking and hairstyling, among others.

Different causes can influence the Hair Growth Cycle and disrupt your normal hair growth, but there are a number of different kinds of hair loss types, which can also be hard to distinguish – even for professional doctors and specialists. It can also be difficult to find an exact cause or the exact causes behind the hair loss. The different types of hair loss include Androgenetic Alopecia, Telogen Effluvium, Trichotillomania and variations of Alopecia, such as Alopecia Areata and Traction Alopecia.

All types of hair loss have one feature in common, which is the fact that the Hair Growth Cycle has been negatively disrupted, meaning, the hair no longer grows and regenerates normally from the follicles. During a disrupted Hair Growth Cycle, the Anagen (growth) phase of the hair is shortened, and the hair enters the Telogen (resting) phase too early, which leads to increased shedding. As a result, fewer hairs are induced back into the growth phase, resulting in less or no regrowth. Therefore, the first goal of any approach to addressing hair loss or hair growth issues should be to normalise the healthy Hair Growth Cycle, and if possible, the second step should be to identify and address any possible factors causing the hair loss.

In almost all cases of hair growth disruption, the underlying cause is a pathology known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy. By utilising a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, which is rich in specific proteoglycans, the hair follicles can be induced back into the Anagen phase to begin a new healthy Hair Growth Cycle.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® restores the levels of key proteoglycans in and around the hair follicles, helping to reduce the follicle shrinkage process (miniaturisation) coupled with helping to induce and prolong the Anagen (growth) phase, which leads to the normalisation of the Hair Growth Cycle.

Nourkrin® has helped hundreds of thousands of women and men to restore their Hair Growth Cycle and is recognised by scientists, doctors, dermatologists, and trichologists worldwide – YES, IT WORKS.

About the causes of hair loss and hair growth disorders

Can anti-depressants cause hair growth disorders?

It is well known that anti-depressants can cause hair loss, but the good news is that it is usually temporary. The type of hair loss most commonly associated with anti-depressants is Telogen Effluvium, normally characterised by excessive shedding. The condition is generally caused by a disturbance to the Hair Growth Cycle causing the Anagen (growing) hairs to enter the Telogen (resting) phase prematurely.

In almost all cases of hair growth disruption, the underlying cause is a Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy. By utilising a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, which is rich in specific proteoglycans, the hair follicles can be induced back into the Anagen phase to begin a new Hair Growth Cycle.

You can tackle the hair loss with Nourkrin®, a bioactive proteoglycan formula, which acts as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy that is safe, drug-free, natural and scientifically proven to help restore the Hair Growth Cycle.

Do blood thinners affect hair growth disorders?

A large number of medications can cause hair loss, which can be temporary or in the worst-case, permanent. Several kinds of blood thinners have been known to cause hair loss. The reason that some medications cause you to lose your hair is that they are toxic to the hair follicles.

When hair follicles become damaged, the normal Hair Growth Cycle is disrupted, which eventually leads to hair loss. In almost all cases of hair growth disruption, the underlying cause is Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Can hair loss occur if I have thyroid problems?

When your thyroid glands are out of balance, your Hair Growth Cycle may be negatively affected. Hypothyroidism is when there is a lack of hormones being produced, which may cause your hair to become dull and more prone to breakage. The contrasting condition, hyperthyroidism, produces an excess number of hormones, which might result in hair loss or shedding due to metabolic changes in the body.

Does smoking increase the risk of developing hair growth disorders?

Smoking certainly influences the Hair Growth Cycle. The exact reason as to why smoking might result in a disrupted Hair Growth Cycle is not known or described in medical literature. Nonetheless, a scientific study conducted in Taiwan discovered that subjects who smoked 20 or more cigarettes a day had a higher risk of developing baldness.

Cigarette smoking has been proven to cause poor circulation, which in turn affects the amount of blood flow available to support the maintenance of a healthy Hair Growth Cycle.

To adequately protect your hair from the abovementioned possible causes, as well as the more commonly known causes of hair loss, Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy has been proven to be one of the best methods. Nourkrin® with the unique Marilex® helps to restore and maintain a healthy Hair Growth Cycle by inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase of the cycle.

How do hormones affect hair growth disorders in women and men?

Hormonal changes or irregularities, and the medication used to the treat them, can cause hair loss and in some cases, even trigger Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss) and Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia).

All medicines for treating hormone-related conditions, both female and male-specific, have the potential to cause hair loss. These include oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy for women, male androgenic hormones and all forms of testosterone, anabolic steroids and other steroids.

In men, the condition usually shows as a characteristic ’M’ pattern, where the hair gradually thins, often progressing to baldness, while in women, the condition shows as a gradual, diffuse thinning of the hair with a widening of the parting.

Hair loss due to Female and Male Pattern Hair Loss happens as a result of a genetic shortening of the Anagen (growing) phase and a prolonged Telogen (resting) phase. The hair follicle also changes and shrinks over time, producing gradually thinner and less pigmented hair – this is known as hair follicle miniaturisation.

One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

Nourkrin® is scientifically documented to help maintain a normal Hair Growth Cycle, which helps you to support normal healthy hair growth.

How can menopause and hormones affect my hair growth?

Menopause is a natural part of ageing that every woman will experience. Some women are only mildly affected by the symptoms, while a majority of women find menopause rather tricky to deal with. Approximately 40-50% of women experience hair loss around menopause.

Hair loss around menopause occurs due to hormonal changes in the body, as well as stress. Around menopause, a woman’s body starts to produce less of the hormone oestrogen, and this hormonal imbalance can disrupt the normal Hair Growth Cycle. Similarly, a prolonged increase in stress levels around menopause can affect the Hair Growth Cycle’s normal function, causing a disruption that can lead to hair loss.

The change in hormones can also be a risk factor for hair growth disruptions, such as Telogen Effluvium and Androgenetic Alopecia. Symptoms, including hair loss, can occur months or even years, leading up to the time of menopause.

Many women find menopause to be a difficult time in their lives, adjusting to all the changes in the body. The last thing you should have to worry about during menopause is your hair.

Scientific studies have demonstrated that Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy can be effective in the treatment of hair growth disruptions, even if as a result of menopause.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula used as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy and is specifically designed to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and promote normal, healthy hair growth and maintain optimal quality and appearance for women before, during and after menopause.

Is there a risk that PCOS and hormonal disorders can lead to hair loss and thinning?

PCOS, also known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, is a syndrome caused by a hormonal imbalance that influences 5-10% of women in the childbearing age. The female body produces more male hormones than it is supposed to, which can result in thinning hair.

Women can experience various symptoms of PCOS, including ovulation problems, acne, weight gain and the above-mentioned hair loss.

The hair loss can be caused by PCOS, but also by birth control pills, which are often prescribed to PCOS sufferers as well. Because hormones influence the Hair Growth Cycle, birth control pills are indicated to affect hair growth.

Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ specific concentration of proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy. The bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin®, with the unique, proprietary Marilex®, is a scientifically developed Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy formulated to support normal, healthy hair growth by addressing Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.

Nourkrin® supports the normal healthy Hair Growth Cycle and prevents hair growth disruptions caused by hormonal changes and stress, whether induced by PCOS, Birth Control Pills, Pregnancy or Menopause.

Why does Postpartum Hair Loss affect up to 50% of women after childbirth?

Postpartum Hair Loss is a well-known and almost generally accepted side effect of being pregnant and is a fact that  40-50% of new mums will experience hair loss after giving birth.

During pregnancy, high hormone levels stop you from losing as much hair as normal, as these hormones prevent the hairs from entering the resting phase, where they would normally shed.

However, after childbirth, these hormones start to revert to normal levels resulting in a lot of hair shedding all at once. As much as 60% of the hair can suddenly enter the resting phase and shed very quickly. This type of shedding is known as Postpartum Effluvium.

Without treatment, it can take up to 2 years before hair returns to normal. The best solution to Postpartum Hair Loss is to be proactive and take steps to help prevent the negative impact. One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

Nourkrin® Woman is a safe and drug-free Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy supplement for new mums to support the natural Hair Growth Cycle and maintain healthy hair. It doesn’t have to be taken for granted that having a baby means losing your hair!

In addressing Postpartum Hair Loss, it is recommended to start taking Nourkrin® Woman within the first four months after giving birth and continue until the shedding has been reduced to a normal amount – or until you are happy with the result.

Medication – is it possible that my hair loss is related to my intake of medicine?

Starting or ending a course of certain medications may cause hair loss in some individuals. Despite the difficulty of pinpointing the precise effect of certain medications in different people, some of the medications that are most commonly reported to cause hair loss are chemotherapy, anti-depressants, thyroid medicines, oral contraceptive pills and cholesterol medicines.

Proteoglycan’s role in hair growth control must be considered when addressing hair growth disorders, no matter their cause or type since proteoglycans can modulate growth factors.

Stress - can stress act as a trigger for my hair loss?

Intense stress can act as a trigger to hair loss. Actually, one of the most significant causes of hair loss is stress. Feeling stressed or anxious for an extended period might affect not only your mental health, but also the physical health of your body.

Many people who feel an excessive amount of stress will experience increased hair thinning or shedding, and some people may even develop stress-related hair loss conditions such as Alopecia Areata, Trichotillomania and Telogen Effluvium.

During periods of intense and chronic stress, a hormone called cortisol is released in the body. Much like hormones associated with postpartum and menopause, cortisol can have severe negative effects on the Hair Growth Cycle. Also suffering from hair loss can lead to even more feelings of stress, making it a vicious cycle of hair growth disruptions that can deteriorate even more than the initial hair loss itself.

Specifying a particularly stressful event that triggered an instance of hair loss may be difficult, yet evidence suggests that acute and chronic stress can accelerate hair loss conditions. However, due to the normal Hair Growth Cycle, signs of hair loss due to stress might not be visible until 4-16 weeks later after the incident that caused the hair loss.

PHYSICAL STRESS:
Physical trauma, such as an accident or an illness, can disrupt the normal Hair Growth Cycle and lead to excessive shedding, known as Telogen Effluvium. Hairs in the Anagen (growing) phase prematurely enter the Telogen (resting) phase and are then shed. The hair loss often presents about three months after the trauma.

EMOTIONAL STRESS:
Emotional stress can also cause hair loss and like with a physical trauma, it often presents months after a particularly stressful event. Telogen Effluvium is usually temporary, and the shedding will normally decrease over 6 to 8 months. However, Telogen Effluvium can become chronic.

TRICHOTILLOMANIA:
Most common among children, trichotillomania is an obsessive-compulsive impulse to twist or pull the hair leading to hair loss and damaging of the scalp. Trichotillomania is twice as common among women as men and can be triggered by stress or depression.

Once the obsessive-compulsive impulses are under control, it is essential to support the Hair Growth Cycle to produce new, healthy hair growth.

Over 30 years of scientific research indicates that one of the most effective ways to help tackle stress-induced hair loss is through Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is used as a natural derived Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy formulation, highly efficient in restoring the levels of key proteoglycans in and around the hair follicles, helping to reduce the follicle shrinkage process (miniaturisation) coupled with helping to induce and prolong the Anagen (growth) phase, which leads to the normalisation of the Hair Growth Cycle.

Diet and hair loss - can poor nutrition cause hair loss on the scalp?

For the Hair Growth Cycle to function normally, it requires a lot of nutrients. Protein, vitamins and glucose are essential for hair to look and grow optimally. If the hair follicles are not provided with the necessary nutrients, it can begin to shed which may, in turn, become Telogen Effluvium.

While a healthy, varied diet with enough protein is a good starting point, a primary therapy to support the hair and help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle to maintain healthy hair growth is vital. A disruption of the Hair Growth Cycle is characterised by a shortened Anagen (growth) phase and a prolonged Telogen (resting) phase. Nourkrin® with Marilex® helps to restore and maintain a healthy Hair Growth Cycle by inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase of the cycle.

How to prevent hair loss & increase hair growth during pregnancy?

Most pregnant women love their hair during pregnancy, as the increase in oestrogen often leads to beautiful, voluminous and bouncy hair. Unfortunately, after the birth, many experience their hair getting thinner and beginning to shed more than normal.

It is recommended to start taking Nourkrin® Woman within the first four months after giving birth and continue until the shedding has been reduced to a normal amount – or until you are happy with the result.

General health – are there any lesser-known causes of hair loss?

Hair loss, as well as hair thinning and shedding, is a widespread issue that affects about 60% of women and 80% of men at some point in their lives. The condition of one’s hair is known to be a reflection of personal health as many health factors can influence the Hair Growth Cycle. While stress, genetics, diet and hair styling are among the more well-known causes of hair loss, there are many people who are losing their hair due to different, less commonly known reasons.

As an example, the Hair Growth Cycle can become disrupted as a result of a particularly high fever, certain autoimmune conditions, digestive issues and infections. This can result in Telogen Effluvium or Cicatricial Alopecia.

The most relevant, personal health influences on the hair are those that took place 4-16 weeks before the noticeable hair loss; this is due to the duration of the normal Hair Growth Cycle.

It is therefore essential for anyone experiencing even the first onset of hair loss symptoms to use a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy as an immediate and baseline treatment. This restores the balance in the levels of proteoglycans needed to help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and restore healthy hair growth.

Does suffering from diabetes cause a risk for hair growth disorders?

Diabetes is a disorder that can have a very gradual onset which reduces the overall state of health. A lesser-known side effect of diabetes is an increased risk of disruption in the Hair Growth Cycle, which can cause hair loss and shedding.

The cause is usually as a result of the impact of diabetes on the body but can also be caused by certain medications. Some of the reasons why diabetes can have an impact on your hair are:

POOR BLOOD CIRCULATION – makes it difficult to carry oxygen around your body and reach the extremities, including feet, hands, and the scalp. Undernourished hair follicles (roots) may weaken and lose their grip on hair strands, and if the situation persists, the follicles will not be able to generate new shafts.

HORMONE IMBALANCE – Diabetes can cause fluctuations and glitches in our body’s hormone production. An imbalance in hormones affects the Hair Growth Cycle. This is why some women experience hair loss while pregnant or during menopause.

IMPAIRED IMMUNE SYSTEM – If the immune system is weakened by stress or illness, the scalp is more susceptible to disease. People with diabetes are more likely to have a condition called Alopecia Areata. With Alopecia, the immune system attacks the hair follicles, leading to patches of hair loss.

SLOW CELL REJUVENATION/TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM – Diabetes can slow the body’s cell regeneration time and disrupt the Hair Growth Cycle. This is also known as Telogen Effluvium where the hair loss is a result of a significant number of hair follicles entering the Telogen (resting) phase from where they are shed. Rather than returning to the Anagen (growth) phase to produce new hairs, a large number of hair follicles become dormant and stop producing hair.

EMOTIONAL STRESS – Diabetes is an ongoing condition that can be difficult to cope with, leading to chronic emotional stress. Several studies have linked severe psycho-emotional stress to the onset of Alopecia Areata, or hair loss that generally occurs in patches. The impact of diabetes is exhausting for your body. The physical and emotional stress can directly impact the Hair Growth Cycle. These fluctuating hormone levels affect the regeneration process of hair follicles.

Diabetes can put a great deal of stress, both physical and emotional, on a person’s body. Persistent stress can cause hormone fluctuations that can affect the Hair Growth Cycle. Hair loss and shedding can diminish self-esteem and sometimes lead to social anxiety or depression.

Can chemicals and hairstyling cause hair growth disruptions?

Daily hair styling with hot tools and hair brushing can be rough on your hair and may even cause Traction Alopecia or hair loss through breakage. Traction Alopecia, or cosmetic hair loss, is the weakening and breakage of hair along its shaft. This can lead to a multitude of hair fibre problems such as breakage, knotting, splitting and dullness.

Traction Alopecia is a type of hair loss where the hair breaks due to chemical damage and/or over-processing. Taking proper care of your hair is essential for normal hair growth.

Unfortunately, tools such as blow-dryers, straighteners and curling irons strain the hair, and  may even burn the hair. Additionally, vigorous brushing may also cause breakage of the hair.

It is essential to take care of your hair with the right products and minimal use of heating and styling tools, however, no matter how conscious you are of proper hairstyling, your hair may still be damaged from the daily stress to the hair.

Therefore, supporting the normal Hair Growth Cycle to produce new, healthy hair growth is critical. No matter what form of hairstyling is used, the hair is always strained. In order to counteract this form of daily stress to the hair, it is important to support normal hair growth continuously. Therefore, baseline treatments that normalise the Hair Growth Cycle are always advisable.

To adequately protect your hair from the above-mentioned possible causes, as well as the more commonly known causes of hair loss, Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy has been proven to be one of the best methods. Nourkrin® with Marilex® helps to restore and maintain a healthy Hair Growth Cycle by inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase of the cycle.

Do genetics play a role in my hair loss?

The genetic influence on the hair follicle and Hair Growth Cycle is a known cause of hair loss in both women and men; however, the genes passed on from each parent are not guaranteed to cause hair loss.

Scientific evidence suggests around 20% of those who exhibit Genetic Hair Loss actually do not have any known family members with the condition. Male and Female Pattern Hair Loss are the most common conditions connected with genetic factors yet other hair loss conditions such as Alopecia Areata may also partly be caused by genetic influences.

There is a well-founded scientific basis for recommending Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy as primary therapy for subjects suffering hair loss or hair growth disorders. It has been shown that proteoglycan levels decline within the hair follicle in age-related or Genetic Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia).

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula used as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy and is specifically designed to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and promote normal, healthy hair growth.

About the types of hair loss and hair growth disorders

What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia Areata is a hair loss condition characterised by sudden appearance of bald patches on the scalp, therefore, the condition is also commonly referred to as spot baldness. It is most commonly seen in younger women and men, and about half of cases are seen in people under the age of 30. Alopecia Areata has two subtypes, where ‘monolocularis’ refers to a single bald spot and ‘multilocularis’ refers to several bald spots. If the condition evolves to a complete loss of scalp hair, the condition is known as Alopecia Totalis and if all hair on the entire body is lost, it is called Alopecia Universalis. However, Alopecia Totalis and Universalis are considered somewhat rare conditions. Alopecia, in its varying forms, can have severe consequences for the sufferers’ self-esteem and perception of self.

It remains unclear why some people develop this condition, but both environmental factors and psychological stress have been known to cause Alopecia Areata. The condition is often associated with autoimmune conditions, including diabetes and hyper- or hypothyroidism, and some seem to have a genetic predisposition for developing it.

Usually, the bald patches will start out small and round. The hair will fall out relatively quickly, and the spot might grow, as the hairs around the edges of the patch are vulnerable. The condition is believed to be an autoimmune condition, where the body’s immune system attacks the hair follicles, which makes the hair fall out and stop growing. The patches look like normal smooth skin, but it can be sensitive or painful in some cases.

It is important to try to manage the condition as early as possible to prevent it from progressing, but previously used treatments have, even with limited use, been shown to have serious side effects, and topical treatments do not penetrate the skin deeply enough to work effectively. While Alopecia Areata does not have a physically harmful impact on the sufferer, the psychological consequences can influence the daily life of the sufferer, and the condition can further enhance stress and depression, which is yet another reason to treat the condition to empower the sufferer.

No matter the cause, Alopecia Areata is a sign that the normal, healthy Hair Growth Cycle has been disrupted, meaning that the Anagen (growth) phase has been shortened and the Telogen (resting) phase has been prolonged. In most cases of Alopecia Areata, the hair will grow back eventually, but without treatment it might take several years for the hair growth to return to normal, healthy conditions.

To support normal, healthy hair growth and help maintain a normal, healthy Hair Growth Cycle, a positive course of action is to start the bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin® which is a natural, safe and drug-free Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy. Nourkrin®, with Marilex®, is rich in the specific proteoglycans documented to help support the overall life and function of hair follicles, and in tests, 9 out of 10 saw an improvement after taking Nourkrin®. For maximal benefits, a 4 to 6-month course is recommended due to the normal duration of the normal Hair Growth Cycle.

What is Telogen Effluvium?

Telogen Effluvium is one of the most common types of hair loss, and it is usually characterised by excessive shedding and a diffuse thinning of the hair all over the scalp. The hair loss is a result of a significant number of hair follicles entering the Telogen (resting) phase from where they are shed. Rather than returning to the Anagen (growth) phase to produce new hairs, a large number of hair follicles become dormant and stop producing hair. The hair loss is diffuse and can be hard to see in the beginning besides the excess hair in the brush or during hair washes. The hair loss is usually evenly distributed across the scalp, but in some areas the hair loss can be worse or more apparent. The condition is generally more common in women.

Marilex® is the main active component, unique to the bioactive proteoglycan formula Nourkrin®. Marilex® is rich in specific bioactive proteoglycans, obtained from a proprietary enzymatic fractionation of a specific fish extract and contains high proportions of the exact papillary proteoglycans, which are critical to female hair follicle growth and cycling during Telogen Effluvium (hair shedding) and Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss).

Telogen Effluvium can be triggered by a number of different factors, such as stress, hormonal changes or illness, and the condition can develop quite rapidly once it sets in, which is usually 4-16 weeks after the issue that triggered the condition– this type is often called acute Telogen Effluvium. The other type takes longer to develop and can be more persistent. Telogen Effluvium manifests itself as a normal amount of shedding over a longer period, with more and more follicles becoming dormant after they are shed, resulting in a gradual thinning. This type is usually referred to as chronic Telogen Effluvium.

A large number of women will experience Telogen Effluvium after giving birth. This is a well-known phenomenon in relation to the normal fluctuation of hormones, which can influence the Hair Growth Cycle. This occurs as the normal Telogen phase is delayed during pregnancy, causing the hair shedding to temporarily reduce and, thereby, creating a sense of increased fullness of the hair. Typically, only 10% of hairs are in the Telogen phase during the second and third trimester of pregnancy. Post-delivery, hormone levels begin to return to normal and a lot of hair is shed all at once.

In the first weeks of the postpartum period, hairs begin to enter the Telogen phase; ultimately reaching a level of 30% after nine weeks, on average. Therefore, the abnormal amount of hair in Telogen results in the simultaneous release from the scalp somewhere between 2 to 4 months after childbirth. The postpartum hair loss phenomenon typically continues for a duration lasting between 6 weeks and 6 months and occasionally lasts up to 15 months or longer.

Up to 40-50% of new moms will actually experience hair loss after giving birth, and Postpartum Hair Loss is more common than most women realise. Telogen Effluvium or Postpartum Effluvium, as it is sometimes referred to, is a result of a disrupted Hair Growth Cycle and should, therefore, be treated as soon as possible to avoid a worsening of the condition.

Nourkrin® Woman, with Marilex® is an effective Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy for all women, who have given birth within the past 9 months and will contribute to the restoration and the maintenance of normal healthy hair growth. What is Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss)?

Hair loss among women is a lot more common than most people realise and, as female hair loss is generally perceived as less socially acceptable than male hair loss, it can have a profound effect on sufferers. Women can experience hair loss due to several different factors, such as health, stress and hormonal changes in relation to, e.g., childbirth or menopause.

However, the most common type of hair loss, for both women and men, is Female Pattern Hair Loss (Genetic Hair Loss) and Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), respectively, which is caused by genetic factors. In men, the condition usually shows as a characteristic ’M’ pattern, where the hair gradually thins, often progressing to baldness, while in women, the condition shows as a gradual, diffuse thinning of the hair with a widening of the parting.

Hair loss due to Female Pattern Hair Loss happens as a result of a genetic shortening of the Anagen (growing) phase and a prolonged Telogen (resting) phase. The hair follicle also changes and shrinks over time, producing gradually thinner and less pigmented hair – this is known as hair follicle miniaturisation.

Some of the medications currently used to treat Female Pattern Hair Loss are not approved for women due to severe side effects, and other treatments have only been shown to have minimal impact on hair growth. Hair transplants are, in most cases, the last option but are a very invasive treatment method.

Alternatively, the disruption of the normal Hair Growth Cycle can be addressed naturally to normalise the growth and resting phase to improve the condition. Nourkrin® Woman is a natural, safe and drug-free treatment, rich in specific proteoglycans, that help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle without any side effects.

What is Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia)?

In the case of Male Pattern Baldness, also known as Androgenetic Alopecia, some hair follicles are sensitive to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone. The sensitive follicles are generally located at the temple, the hairline and at the crown of the head. The hormone (dihydrotestosterone) influences the normal Hair Growth Cycle and changes the size of the hair follicles.

Dihydrotestosterone shortens the growth phase of the hair, which becomes gradually shorter over time, and the hairs do not grow as long as they once did. Furthermore, each hair has a limited number of growth cycles, typically 8-10 cycles. The shorter growth cycles caused by dihydrotestosterone mean that the hair follicles will use up their cycles faster and will stop producing hair sooner. Evidence further shows that the hair follicles shrink due to the hormone, which means the hair becomes thinner and less pigmented over time. Eventually, the hair follicle only produces fine ‘peach fuzz’ hairs until it stops producing hair altogether. The result of the shortened Hair Growth Cycle and the shrinkage of the hair follicle is gradually finer and less pigmented hairs and eventually less hair altogether.

Marilex®-M is the main, active component unique to Nourkrin® Man and is rich in specific bioactive proteoglycans obtained from a proprietary enzymatic fractionation of a specific fish extract. Marilex®-M contains high proportions of these specific papillary regulating proteoglycans, essential to help to replenish the critical papillary proteoglycans that help to address follicle shrinkage during Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia).

Users are advised to follow a course of Nourkrin® Man over a minimum period of 4 to 6 months to ensure maximum initial support for their hair, and if required continue on a maintenance course.

What is Genetic Hair Loss?

The most common type of hair loss, for both women and men, is Genetic Hair Loss, known as Female Pattern Hair Loss in women and Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia) in men. In men, the disorder usually shows as a characteristic ’M’ pattern, where the hair gradually thins, often progressing to baldness, while in women, the condition shows as a gradual, diffuse thinning of the hair with a widening of the parting.

Genetic Hair Loss happens as a result of a genetic shortening of the Anagen (growing) phase and a prolonged Telogen (resting) phase. The hair follicle also changes and shrinks over time, producing gradually thinner and less pigmented hair – this is known as hair follicle miniaturisation.

Some of the medications currently used to treat Genetic Hair Loss are not approved for women due to severe side effects, and other treatments have only been shown to have minimal impact on hair growth. Hair transplants are, in most cases, the last option but are a very invasive treatment method.

Alternatively, the disruption of the normal Hair Growth Cycle can be addressed naturally, to normalise the growth and resting phase to improve the condition. Nourkrin® is a natural, safe and drug-free treatment, rich in specific proteoglycans, that help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle without any side effects.

Marilex®-M also contains high proportions of these specific papillary proteoglycans plus additional extra proportions of decorin and versican that are essential in replenishing the critical papillary proteoglycans that address follicle shrinkage during Male Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia).

With over 30 years of research and development and clinical studies into Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, Nourkrin® is recognised by scientists, doctors, dermatologists and trichologists worldwide.

What is Alopecia Areata / Totalis / Universalis?

Autoimmune hair loss types occur when your immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, which is where hair growth begins. Autoimmune Alopecia comes in three different forms: Alopecia Areata, Alopecia Totalis and Alopecia Universalis.

Alopecia Areata is also known as spot baldness and presents as patchy hair loss. In rare cases, the hair loss affects the entire scalp, in which case it is known as Alopecia Totalis. Even more rarely the entire body is affected, known as Alopecia Universalis, and results in a complete loss of scalp, facial and body hair.

Alopecia Areata is most commonly seen in younger people under the age of 30, but it can occur at any age, and affects both women and men. The condition has a rapid onset but tends to spontaneously reverse, especially if the Hair Growth Cycle is normalised by replenishing proteoglycans that may have wasted away.

One available and safe method of increasing the concentration of specific hair follicle proteoglycans and normalising the Hair Growth Cycle is to orally administer bioavailable proteoglycans, referred to as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy.

Nourkrin® with Marilex® is a bioactive proteoglycan formula used as a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy and is specifically designed to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle and promote normal, healthy hair growth.

What is Traction Alopecia?

Traction Alopecia is a type of hair loss where the hair breaks due to chemical damage or over-processing. Taking proper care of your hair is essential for normal hair growth.

Unfortunately, tools such as blow-dryers, flat irons and curling irons strain the hair, and it may even burn the hair. Additionally, vigorous brushing may also cause breakage of the hair.

It is essential to take care of your hair with the right products and minimal use of heating and styling tools. However, no matter how conscious you are of proper hairstyling, your hair may still be damaged from the daily stress.

Therefore, it is always recommended to treat the hair from the inside out. Nourkrin® supports your hair from the inside by providing the necessary elements for the hair to grow and to normalise the Hair Growth Cycle.

What is Trichotillomania?

Many people who feel an excessive amount of stress will experience increased hair thinning or shedding. Some people may even develop conditions such as Androgenetic Alopecia, Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium or even the hair-pulling disorder Trichotillomania.

Trichotillomania is an obsessive-compulsive impulse to twist or pull the hair leading to hair loss and damaging of the scalp. The clinical feature of Trichotillomania is plucked or broken hair in patches from the side of the scalp favouring the dominant hand.

Trichotillomania is twice as common among women as men and can be triggered by stress or depression. In some cases, the urge for pulling is so strong that it cannot be controlled, no matter how hard the patient tries to increase their concentration in tasks that could prevent the hands from pulling or twisting.

No matter the cause and severity, Trichotillomania is often a source of shame and isolation due to the hair loss and the lack of understanding and social stigma paired with this condition. Therefore, raising awareness and providing support and understanding is vital to help increase the life quality of sufferers of this condition.

Once the obsessive-compulsive impulses are under control, it is essential to support the Hair Growth Cycle to produce new, healthy hair growth.

The disruption of the normal Hair Growth Cycle should be addressed naturally to normalise the growth and resting phase to improve the condition. Nourkrin® is a natural, safe and drug-free formulation rich in specific proteoglycans that help normalise the Hair Growth Cycle without any side effects.

What is Cicatricial Alopecia?

Cicatricial Alopecia is the generic term for a type of alopecia where the hair follicle is destroyed either due to disease, in which case it is referred to as primary Cicatricial Alopecia, or by an indirect influence, in which case it is referred to as secondary Cicatricial Alopecia.

The hair loss is often patchy, and the skin can look scarred or de-pigmented. To promote hair growth, it is vital to support the remaining hair follicles and address the disrupted hair growth cycle. Therefore, a primary Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy that normalises the Hair Growth Cycle is always advisable.

What is Excessive shedding?

Rest assured that it is completely normal to find hairs here and there – on the pillow, in the shower or even on your desk at work. Shedding 50-100 hairs per day is normal for most people. While this may sound like a lot it is important to know that the average person has between 100,000 and 150,000 scalp hairs.

Remember, losing 50-100 hairs per day is an average number, you might, in fact, only lose 30 hairs one day, but 80 hairs the next. It can be difficult to determine if you are suffering from excessive shedding, but a useful tip is to start keeping a journal to record your hair loss. Clean out your brush after each brushing and record the number of hairs that come out.

Telogen Effluvium is the medical term for excessive shedding (also called acute Telogen Effluvium). The condition can also manifest itself with a normal amount of hair loss leading to gradual thinning (also called chronic Telogen Effluvium).

Telogen Effluvium or excessive hair shedding occurs mainly in women but is most common in people who have experienced, e.g., a severe weight loss, childbirth, stress, recovering from an illness, high fever or stopped taking birth control pills.

Telogen Effluvium is usually caused by a disturbance to the Hair Growth Cycle, causing the Anagen (growing) hairs to prematurely enter the Telogen (resting) phase.

The bioactive proteoglycan formula, Nourkrin® with the unique Marilex® is a Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy which is scientifically formulated to help restore and maintain a normal healthy Hair Growth Cycle by inducing and prolonging the Anagen (growth) phase of the cycle.

What is Diffuse hair loss?

Diffuse hair loss or diffuse thinning refers to the diminishing, or shedding, of the hair all over the scalp and is typically caused by Telogen Effluvium.

Hair loss and hair growth disruptions can be explained by a ‘lower than normal’ concentration of specific proteoglycans that causes follicular degradation – this is known as Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy. Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy, i.e., Nourkrin® with Marilex®, is a clinically documented, first-line therapy proven to be clinically effective in 9 out of 10 women suffering from Proteoglycan Follicular Atrophy.
